There is no doubt that education, for a human being, is as essential as breathing. It is a gateway of culture and prosperity in the civilized world. If we look at the history of the great nations of the world, we see that they all achieved name and fame due to education that made them intelligent, skillful, and competent.
The Muslims too, in the past, had contributed a lot to various branches of education. But now the situation has been reversed. The same is true of Muslims in India and Maharashtra.

About Amravati & the Need for Education
The city of Amravati is situated in a region in India, in the State of Maharashtra called Vidarbha. Here most of the pupils are dependent on agriculture, and very few are in government and private jobs due to a dearth of big industries. Every small-scale unit has been stagnant for a long time. In this scenario, imagine what would be the economic condition of the Muslims and how many of them will be educated.
Most of the Muslims are engaged in small trade and daily wages, naturally due to lack of education. It was this scenario that prompted the Friends Welfare Society of Amravati to establish the Friends English High School, long back 25 years in 1979, and later on Urdu High School in 1983 and Friends Junior College of Science in English medium in 2008.

Challenges of Establishing Muslim Educational Institutions
We all are aware of the difficulties that come in the way of establishing and running a school, that too for Muslims and in a Muslim locality, especially in the Vidarbha region. Vidarbha is bigger in size and population than many states in the U.S.A., Russia, etc.
It has great development potentialities. Being a more backward region, the greater the need and urgency for development planning and ultimately, education. Thus, Amravati city is situated in such an area.
A Region with Limited Muslim Institutions
As known, there is no treasure like knowledge. Though this region has some of the greatest and oldest educational institutions of India, all of them are either run by the state government or by private non-Muslim managements. The only exception is Nagpur.
